Giving Tuesday in Colombia

Good Shepherd Center
Problem: In Colombia, the situation of the elderly is a situation that presents multiple challenges. For the most part, the elderly do not have the most minimal conditions of social protection, nutrition, health, recreation or family warmth. Because society sees seniors (elders) as unproductive people, many are abandoned by their own families and their state of loneliness and vulnerability is very real.

Solution
The Good Shepherd Center in Ciudadela Sucre de Soacha responds to the integral needs of 40 elders  (seniors) in the area through nutrition, psycho-social accompaniment, recreation, and home visits. This Christmas, besides all recreation, nutrition, and home visits, we seek to have a community celebration with these elders and provide a generous Christmas gift which will include cleaning elements for their humble homes, personal hygiene items and groceries. Help us provide these Christmas gifts to vulnerable seniors and celebrate a very fruitful harvest of gratitude.

Secure online giving is available at www.fundacioncaminoemaus.org/en. Please select Good Shepherd Center. As soon as a donation is made, you will receive a tax-deductible receipt.

Our social networks

CELCO SCHOOLS
Problem: Access to primary and secondary education in Colombia, particularly in rural areas, faces very real challenges of technology and access to virtuality, lack of spiritual and social values, economic capacity of families to cover education expenses for their children. Unless this first basic level of primary education is guaranteed, school dropout rates will grow even more.

SOLUTION:
Educating for Life is our great social commitment to Colombia. The CELCO primary schools in El Cocuy (Department of Boyacá) and Paz De Ariporo (Department of Casanare), impact 200 students and their families. From this initial stage of education, we lay the foundations to form responsible citizens, men and women of peace, defenders of the environment, citizens with a proven vocation of service to the social transformations of Colombia.

In celebration of our 31 st anniversary, our goal is to raise $3,100 to upgrade our internet and virtual infrastructure and to provide scholarships to the neediest families.

Secure online giving is available at www.fundacioncaminoemaus.org/en.  by selecting CELCO Schools. Upon donating, a tax-deductible receipt will be issued. Thank you for your generoisty!

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Join the movement and give – each Tuesday and every day – whether it’s some of your time, a donation, or the power of your voice in your local community. It’s a simple idea: whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to contribute toward building the better world we all want to make this world a better world for all.

10 YEARS OF GROWING GENEROSITY WORLDWIDE MILLIONS OF GENEROUS PEOPLE DOING GOOD A GLOBAL MOVEMENT IN ITS TENTH YEAR AND A NEWLY INDEPENDENT STARTUP

In 2012, when GivingTuesday was launched, we had a big goal: to make giving more central in daily life. Our commitment to a core set of values, an open, distributed leadership model, and a belief in transformational partnerships set
us on a course to build the first global generosity movement and the first global day of celebration open to anyone and everyone.

Today, GivingTuesday is an inclusive and pluralistic community of millions of givers, with activity in every country on every continent. We celebrate and uplift grassroots generosity and generosity as a universally held value. Around
the world, across diverse giving cultures, our network of local leaders in over 70 countries and hundreds of communities innovate, collaborate, and inspire collective generosity as a way to build the world they want to live in.

As we look to our tenth anniversary and set our sights on our next ten years, we are energized by the opportunity of creating a better future, together and we approach that work with hope, ambition, and humility.
