Having completed the transition process by which Fundacion Camino Emaus has officially become the Foundation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia, we welcome the new Board of Directors and celebrate the rich diversity of ages, experiences, professional skills and determined commitment to amplify the Foundation’s holistic mission into the future.
Natanael Lizarazo
President
Natanael is a graduate of the International Baptist Theological Seminary, today the Baptist University Corporation in the city of Cali. In 1986 Natanael left Colombia to study post-graduate studies at Wartburg Seminary in the State of Iowa, USA. As Pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Reverend Natanael brings his rich ministerial experience of more than 35 years serving in diverse cultural, national and global contexts and Boards. Pastor Barbara Wangsness and daughter Alicia Lizarazo are Co-Founders of Fundacion Camino Emaus.
Nathaly Quito
Vice-president
Nathaly knows from her own experience the struggles and hopes of an economically poor family. Thanks to her persistence and resilience, her proven faith, her always generous and missionary heart and the support of Fundacion Camino Emaus, Nathaly is a professional in Business Administration. Nathaly has extensive experience of service to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia having served as National Coordinator of the Lutheran Missionary Youth of Colombia and as Facilitator of the Missionary Plan 2020-2030.
Miledis Guevara
Member at Large
Miledis specialized in Organizational Psychology. Currently, Miledis works Coordinator with the Training Center the True Vine, providing care to vulnerable populations, people with disabilities, women surviving cancer, women heads of households and migrant people. Miledis is responsible for coordinating program activities in the operational plan, budget management, implementation of new projects of social interest, strengthening teamwork, leadership, and design new alternatives to serve vulnerable populations of Colombia.
Miledis is very passionate about community service. Speaking about Fundacion Camino Emaus, Miledis states: “walking together, building together, learning together and contributing new learnings together, we will further strengthen the mission of Fundación Camino Emaus”.
Deisy Gonzalez
Secretary
Deisy is a professional in International Business thanks to the support of Fundacion Camino Emaus. Deisy knows from her own experience the struggles and hopes of economically poor families who despite many difficulties, make their way towards a dignified life of service to others. Through formal education and Christian leadership, Deisy is a passionate fighter and advocate for the welfare of vulnerable communities. As a bilingual professional, Deisy has represented the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia and Fundacion Camino Emaus by serving as an International Counselor at Outlaw Ranch, an ELCA South Dakota Synod Bible Camp.
Mauricio Chala
Member at Large
Mauricio is a member of the Vida Nueva Congregation in Bogota and a professional in Civil Engineering thanks to the support of Fundacion Camino Emaus. Mauricio has served the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia as National Coordinator of the Lutheran Missionary Youth of Colombia and currently serves on the National Executive Committee.
