I’m Maria Elena. My family and I have been serving God through the Lutheran Church of Colombia since 1988. God has guided us on the paths of service in different areas of God’s work in the regional area in Santander. Together with Pastor Israel we work in areas of physical construction for emerging congregations, social services, evangelism, risk management in times of flooding, involving our Ministry of Community Development to seek national and international funding for holistic work among very vulnerable communities, families, women and children.
This 20-year ministerial work became the motivation to study Community Social Psychology. God’s guidance has always been present in our ministry. At all times God has been our living bread, God has helped us to overcome many obstacles. Everything God wanted has happened; what God did not intend has been eliminated. My family and husband were instrumental in my personal and bi- vocational callings.
My vocations as a Community Social Psychologist and Ordained Minister allow me to minister from an integral perspective and joyfully proclaim God's salvation for the world. Holistic Christian leadership is vitally important in all areas of my life and family. This leadership inspires me to serve families in the Church, outside the Church, and in the Lutheran School of Theology. I will always honor the passion and compassion of my beloved husband Wilson, whom God called to his eternal home in March 2020.
My sincere thanks and blessings to all those who offer their prayers and share financial resources with the Emmaus Way Foundation. You make a significant difference for You make a significant difference for students who feel called to serve God's mission in Colombia and to be formed and transformed to serve our families, congregations and Colombian society.
